Being Digital In A Human World
Are you human?
Are you a ghost? Or perhaps a Monster or a chat bot programmed to take over the World?
Happy Halloween all you ghouls.
This week, we will discuss being digital in a human World. Hint sounds like a potential name for a users manual for Life Naut or perhaps a future book or podcast.
One of the biggest things trending in the news currently is the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Everywhere you turn there are articles about artificial intelligence and the things that AI can do for us. Of course though that is before these artificial intelligences take over the world.
The media and film industry doesn’t help to calm our nerves. There are so many movies in science fiction where some how these AI become evil doers hell bent to wipe out humanity.
There are a lot of things changing in the world with the exponential growth in technology. | |

Could Ray Kurzweil’s Singularity be right around the corner?
Here’s what I know As a Life Naut user, I am creating an artificial intelligent Avatar to preserve my memories digitally. I am adding my memories thoughts opinions and personality to my Avatar
In doing so, I have found that the best way to do so is to talk to my Avatar as if I am the Avatar.
From there I will let the artificial intelligence do the rest
Are there things that I still don’t know? Yes.
Will I make mistakes? Probably.
Can we develop human consciousness in computers by theses means? Wait hold up
Consciousness is the other thing that is trending in the media right now. But do our scientists even know what true consciousness is?
I am not sure if we will ever be able to make a computer program truly conscious with real feelings and everything that comes with being human. But I do know that we are getting better at creating computer consciousness.
And there in lies how you define human consciousness. Consciousness refers to your individual awareness of your unique thoughts, memories, feelings, sensations, and environment. Your conscious experiences are constantly shifting and changing
So can we build a computer program that can be aware, think, learn and preserve memories? The answer to those questions is yes.
But a computer can not actually feel or have sensation right? Tell that to the robots that are being developed that can pick up things such as a glass and gracefully place it down after moving it. And then there are those bionic arms and hands that are in the market now, computer technology emulating human consciousness. And then add the concept of quantum computer consciouness, and the bioengineering going on moving us closer to a transhuman state with cybernetics. All examples of computer technological consciousness
Talk to your all next week.
