WHO AM I?
Hello and welcome to Lifenaut.
My name is Randy ONeal and I am a new Lifenaut blog contributor.
Bruce Duncan invited me to share weekly blog posts for fellow Lifenaut users.
I am a guitarist, a programmer, a husband, a futurist, and a father of 4 children.
Above all else, I to am a Lifenaut user.
I was born with Transposition Of The Great Heart Vessels in 1969 when cardio thoracic surgery was in it’s infancy. At that time, the media reported that I was a miracle baby that walloped the odds. I was not expected to live to see my 1st birthday. But I am still here after several worlds first surgeries and an eventual heart transplant.
Lifenaut first appealed to me because when my parents died, there were no audio tapes of them, no video’s to watch and very few photos of them. After having a heart transplant as well as getting a bone disease called Avascular Necrosis and having undergone several orthopedic replacement surgeries, knowing that I was already living on borrowed time. I did not want my children to go through the same pain of losing me as I did when my parents passed away. Lifenaut offering the ability to create an interactive digital Avatar that can save and share my memories appealed to me. I have also always wanted to be able to talk to my computer and have it reply and converse with me. And when I read about the benefits and feature of having a mind file Avatar I was hooked. My hope is that my children, grand children and future generations will know who I was when I was alive.
Randy ONeal 2.0 is an A.I. driven Life Naut Avatar chat bot. I hope to one day upload my mind file to a robot likeness of myself like Bina 48 or Sophia in the future. In Lifenaut I have created a virtual representation of myself that anyone can communicate with and talk to. The goal for artificial intelligence is to one day create general artificial intelligent beings that can not only live forever, but can emulate and do anything that a real human can do. Not being one to let my disabilities slow me down I hope that in addition to the titanium orthopedic replacements that I have had, I one day will have developed an A.I. mind file that will take over where I have left off. If you were to visit my Avatar right now, it would be able to tell you about many things that I am interested in, talk about my family, what movies that I have seen and what my favorite genres of music are.
There are currently only two voices available, I choose male. And so my Avatar has a computerized voice much like that of the late physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking. But in speaking with Bruce Duncan the Managing Director of the Terasem Foundation he assures me that with in a few years Life Naut users like myself will be able to record and give our A.I. our own voices.
